Ruby Organic Peruvian Salkantay Coffee

Ruby Organic Peruvian Salkantay Coffee comes from the Salkantay farm operating under the Huadqiña Cooperative. They have been producing coffee in the La Convencion Valley since 1964. Only recently, have they been able to market and sell their coffees individually due to their release from a larger coop who’s rules restricted the quality of coffees Huadqiña was able to produce. Until only about 10 years ago, most coffee in Peru had been governed by these large cooperative groups that focused mainly on producing large quantities rather than growing quality coffee.

Located near the Incan Ruins of Machu Picchu, La Convencion Valley is a 12-hour drive from the nearest town, and it spans across many peaks at extreme elevations. It’s the perfect environment for growing beautiful, bright, complex coffee, and groups like Huadquiña are only now able to pursue new opportunities.
