Guaraná Antarctica Black was announced in 2015 as a mixture of the traditional guaraná soda with the "flavor of açaí". Guaraná Antarctica Black was launched with the marketing slogan “Missão Se Joga No Escuro” - Mission plays in the dark - and tried to engage and surprise consumers. The company took their slogan a bit too far with flavor claims, as the drink didn't have any açaí fruit on its ingredients label. Shortly after its release changes to the product's labeling and advertising campaigns were officially requested - which Ambev agreed to. Saying "The expression "Guaraná, Açaí and Fruits from the Amazon" will be changed to "Fruits from the Amazon: Guaraná and Flavor Açaí"." Which is apparently legal in Brazil, and many other places.

On the initially released can, the product is described as "Fruits from the Amazon: guarana and açaí flavor". And lists ingredients as (translated to english): carbonated water, sugar, purple carrot and hibiscus extracts, guarana extract, IV caramel coloring, acidulants, phosphoric acid and citric acid, acacia gum emulsifier, flavoring and acidity regulator sodium citrate.
